Automatic Location And Measurement Of Score-based Gestures In Audio Recordings
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper reports on our first experiments in using the feature extraction tools of the MPEG-7 international standard for multimedia content description on a novel problem, the automatic identification and analysis of scorebased performance features in audio recordings of music. Our test material consists of recordings of two pieces of 17thand 18th-century lute music in which our aim is to recognise and isolate performance features such as trills and chord-spreadings. Using the audio tools from the MPEG-7 standard facilitates interoperability and allows us to share both score and audio metadata. As well as using low-level audio MIR techniques within this MPEG7 context, the work has potential importance as an ’ornamentation filter’ for MIR systems. It may also form a useful component in methods for instrumental performer identification.

Automated quantisation and transcription of Ornaments from audio recordings
We propose a new method for rhythm quantisation and measurement of expressive timing. This paper focuses on the automatic quantisation and rhythmic transcription of syncopated rhythms and baroque ornaments, e.g. appogiaturas, mordants and trills from time-tagged audio recordings without knowing the score in advance. We demonstrate the transcription of the Aria of J. S. Bach’s Goldberg Variation...
متن کاملExpressive Irish Fiddle Performance Model Informed with Bowing
We propose an expressive performance model for celtic fiddle based on the analysis of audio and bowing gestures of real performances. Existing expressivity models deal with perceptual features such as timing deviations or dynamics, but in some cases perceptual features are not enough. We propose a model not only informed with perceptual features but also with bowing gestures which are acquired ...
متن کاملAn Approach for Linking Score and Audio Recordings in Makam Music of Turkey
The main information sources to study a particular piece of music are symbolic scores and audio recordings. These are complementary representations of the piece and it is very useful to have a proper linking between the two of the musically meaningful events. For the case of makam music of Turkey, linking the available scores with the corresponding audio recordings requires taking the specifici...
متن کاملMental Timeline in Persian Speakers’ Co-speech Gestures based on Lakoff and Johnson’s Conceptual Metaphor Theory
One of the introduced conceptual metaphors is the metaphor of "time as space". Time as an abstract concept is conceptualized by a concrete concept like space. This conceptualization of time is also reflected in co-speech gestures. In this research, we try to find out what dimension and direction the mental timeline has in co-speech gestures and under the influence of which one of the metaphoric...
متن کاملA Methodology for the Segmentation and Identification of Music Works
The identification of unknown recordings is a challenging problem that has several applications. In this paper, we focus on the identification of alternative releases of a given music work. To this end, a statistical model of the possible performances of a given score is built from the recording of a single performance. The methodology is based on the automatic segmentation of audio recordings,...
